Please note: This course is not a prerequisite for the Maryland Wear and Carry Class. However, if you just want a rock-solid firearm safety foundation without obtaining the license, this course is also perfect. Why Do I Need an HQL? In Maryland, an HQL is required to purchase, rent, or receive a handgun. Your training is valid for 3 years and must be completed prior to applying. Course Curriculum Our comprehensive 4-hour HQL class seamlessly combines informative classroom instruction with essential hands-on practical exercises. Course Requirements Age and ID: Must be 21+ years old and bring a valid driver's license or state ID. Punctuality: Must arrive on time and attend the entire 4-hour duration to receive HQL certification. Tuition Breakdown ($125) Included: Comprehensive classroom instruction, training firearm, ammunition, targets, eye and ear protection. Not Included: LiveScan fingerprints, state application fee (the $50.00 fee paid to Maryland State Police).
